Flood Victims’ Toys Returned by Kind Stranger 🧸

A family in New Zealand lost everything when Hawke’s Bay flooding took their home and all of their belongings. The two daughters had gathered a bag of toys, but they were left behind in the rush to find safety in the middle of the night. Murray, a local stranger, was checking out a vineyard for damages when he noticed a pink bag stuffed with toys in the mud. He and his wife washed and dried the toys, then posted the photo on social media to find their rightful owners. Amazingly, Catrina, who was staying in temporary accommodation with her husband and daughters, saw the post and recognized the toys immediately. She sent Murray a message and was non-stop crying with happiness. She said, “When you lose everything, it’s amazing what is so meaningful and important.”

Workers flushed the system numerous times but to no avail. Finally, during routine maintenance in the Chino Hills neighbourhood, they discovered the ring! It was washed, sterilized and returned the following day to the happy couple.

A street seller, or ‘hawker’, in Singapore noticed a bag that was left at her stall. Ms Woon was shocked to see stacks of $100 notes inside. There was so much that she couldn’t even count the total. Knowing someone was missing it, she set it safely aside. The man returned later that day, flustered and worriedly asking if she had seen a bag. To his great relief, he was reunited with the cash, which was intended to fund his brother’s funeral. Ms Woon recognized the man was distressed and was glad to make an understandably hard time that little bit easier.
